Connections
Section titled “Connections”Session notes
Section titled “Session notes”We go to Serpent’s Repose with a delegation and a small ship from the Migrant Fleet. We go with a Barge. We see a lot of dead fish in the water. Kahu lights the water on fire. Now we’re very visible as we go through the blazing water. There’s no lasting damage but everyone knows we’re here except Boggart who are decimated and are just trying to fish in the disgusting water. They are very sad.
We have food on the boat. Rations for the crew. There’s a foul stench around us. Miros goes to try to trade with the Boggarts with some rations in order to ask about where Serpent’s repose is. The Boggarts are afraid but point to a large hut in the center of town.
The Boggarts are desperate about the food that Miros offers and accept it gladly and hastily eat it. We’re in a town for a 100 people, it resembles the Boggart village we have seen before. Mostly made of mud huts. We’ve been pointed in the direction of a stone hut that looks much sturdier and of better construction than the other huts in this village. A snake tries to come at us but it’s smacked by Oona with a punch in the snoot.
We hear a voice from the inside, they say “Who the hell are you?”. Oona responds that we come from Bloombark and we’re looking into the disappearance of some of the island citizens. We go inside and it’s very nice. It’s like Bilbo baggings house but all the furniture is made of gold. The snake person is trying to stem the flow of blood from their nose. E’longa harbor master is the name of this snake person. They say we’re not welcome, the trading season is over. They are one of the Ranti. E’longa says no returns after 15 days.
E’longa goes to his writing desk to review the logs of people. E’longa confirms that these people have been sold to the state of Ranti. Ryuto offers E’longa some tea but E’longa is suspicious. He tastes the tea and drinks it. We can’t read the serpent expression in E’longa’s face. Miros is interested in learning why the trading policy changed. His superiors instructed the change in policy.
E’longa thinks everything is legal but we disagree. He tells us that the traded people would have been sent to the Great Nest. Blood is the thing of most value, gold is not of so much value. E’longa has been exiled to the forsaken harbor. He thinks we’re resourceful. We could ransom our friends for the right price. E’longa would like 20 weapons per ransomed person. Miros thinks we should do a deception and say we will provide the weapons but demand proof of life and go see the prisoners in the city.
E’longa doesn’t think we will survive a trip to the great swamp. He is being very ominous and says we will die in the great swamp. He is very interested in owning Pachinko as a rarity. He is a bit flustered when asked for a manager.
E’longa says: “The best way to see your friends alive is to do this deal”. Pachinko catches a fish and gives it to one of the boggarts, they wanted some rations instead of fish though. He is Pally the Boggart. He has been to the great nest. The Great Nest can be a very dangerous place.
E’longa is not happy that we talked to the Boggarts and says we shouldn’t trust their words.
Our proposal is: We want to seal the deal in person and see them alive and in good health. E’longa is willing to take us but we might die on the way. E’longa is insulted; we don’t think he has the authority.
We are in agreement that we shall trust E’longa to broker a deal, we’ll bring weapons and we’ll decide later if we kill them. The migrant fleet is going to give us money for the weapons so we can bring back the slaves. 500g for all the weapons.
We’re currently in Kapipala with migrant fleet. We’re bringing the first delivery of lemons.
