Section titled “Connections”Session notes
Section titled “Session notes”Oro is 14th, the son of the chieftess. He has a bit of news. He wants to tells us about how the late chieftain dies. Johan Storzenbecher is a slaver that raids the islands, his ship is nearby and has been sighted. They said he has landed some men. He might be here to raid the village for more slaves. We need to stop and we did such a good job with the boars and the lizard people. Oro hasn’t seen how much people Johan takes with him. Last time he remembers, his dad died. Of course, we’d like to help!
We can talk to the scout that reported this incident, it seems like Oro does not want the chieftess to know what’s going on. We walk to John Luckyloo. He is a fine gentleman. Oro is asking about what the scout saw. The scout wanted to bring the message to the chieftain. But Oro says we’re the ones to help. He’s got a fancy ship and 10 scores ago he saw his rambly flags and now he is back. You can always see the ship in distance but usually is unchallenged at sea but now that they are on land. They are in Gilligan’s Cove. We have to be careful. It’s only about half a day north. We have to be careful with the guns.
Last time they were on shore, that’s when they killed the chieftain with their handguns. They are slavers so they must be looking for more victims.
Oro keeps pretending that his mom knows about this mission. Oona has figured out that he is lying. But Oro starts crying. Oona makes sure that Oro will be safe. We’re walking through the jungle with an elephant.
Oona is worried about the safety of the child. We’re concealed by the forest in our approach to the cove. We first see the ship on the horizon. It’s a very colorful ship full of flags and insignias. It’s very gauche. It’s twice the length of the lively lady. It might have a crew of about 30-50 people. A 12 to 20 cannons across both sides. There’s a lot of deforestation around the cove. There’s some people down there from the ship with a little boat nearby. There are some people grilling some meats and other chopping up some wood.
Pachinko will go ahead and scout the location a bit more while everyone stays hidden.
4 pirates are chopping up the trees
1 of the cooks is collecting wood and preparing a pork
A boat approaches from the water
- This one has a man with a blonde beard and a fancy tricorn.
There’s:
- 2 rowers
- 4 campers
- 4 lumberjacks
- 1 captain
The captain is like “I have a bad feeling about this”, we can’t stay overnight. We’re attacking stealthily and using shock and awe tactics with distraction.
The distraction works and there’s now a few charred boats and pirates under a fireball.

The captain shoots a firework into the sky. The ship sends a set of flares in response. The captain shoots a bullet at the elephant, it’s very loud.
After all the slaughter of his pirates, the captain surrenders with his hands over his guns. Oro does not give him quarter but the ship starts to prepare its cannons. We run for the forest. The ship tries to fire but fails and starts to go up in smoke. The ship is burning in the horizon.
As we go away, Oro stabs the captain in the neck and he dies as Oro claims revenge.
Some pirates are trying to swim ashore. We wait to see who they are. Meanwhile, we go and gather the guns. We recover all 10 blunderbusses. We also get the captain’s arquebus.
We heal up and the new incoming crew from the destroyed ship reach shore. They are a very eclectic group with colorful clothing, it reminds us of the style of the migrant fleet. There are a dozen of them.
One of them is on fire, even after wading through water. He is a tattooed native with huge lacerations across his bald head. He stares blankly at us. He is very confused and collapses. And the fire goes out.
